Happening in 15 minutes (1pm EST) Google+ Hangout discussing Moodle

Just a reminder that in just 15 minutes Sean Beaverson and John R. Sowash are hosting a Google+ Hangout discussing Moodle.

Since there is a limit on the number of participants they’ve created a Google Doc for collaborative notes, questions, sharing, etc. This is a first time hosting something like this and hopefully in the future the limit on the amount of participants will increase. So come hang out and see how it works!

Who uses Moodle? Who uses Google+? If you said yes to both then come join us on Tuesday, January 17th at 1pm ET to discuss “Moodle for Online Learning and Blended Learning“. The Hangout was a product of a discussion stream from Sean Beaverson and John R. Sowash on Google+.

It’ll be an informal Hangout with no predefined agenda items and there may be a cap on how many people can be in the Hangout but we’ll just see how it goes! People can drop in and out and go with the flow.

Soo, to access the Hangout you have to have a Google+ account and just add me (Melissa Benson), Sean or John to your circles or just search for us and check out our streams. I’m not sure if there’s an easy way to access it? We’ll send out reminders via Google+ and Twitter.

This Open Source award is an online event held by Packt to distinguish excellence among the various projects within the community. Now in its sixth year, the Award, formerly known as the Open Source Content Management Systems (CMS) Award, is designed to encourage, support, recognize, and reward a wide range of technologies. Since 2006, both Drupal and WordPress have won the main CMS Award, with Dries Buytaert and Matt Mullenweg both referencing the Award as an important yardstick for their projects.

Let’s get collaborative West Coast Moodle Moot! #mootusca11

Are you going to the West Coast Moodle Moot in California in a week? If so, come join the community and engage in the Collaborative Doc. My colleague (@smbeaverson) and I came up with this idea during the 2011 iMoot, where it started out as a simple blank document with a few directions:

and it was transformed into 19 pages of notes, edited by Moodlers from all around the world. From the United States, to Australia, to Mexico, Sweden and Hong Kong! I’d like to start the same type of Document with my very first Moodle Moot : )

I’ve created a doc for the upcoming West Coast Moodle Moot– http://goo.gl/vODg0. It’s a public, open document for anyone to edit. Please feel free to help organize the doc or contribute to it–with notes during the conference, questions or ideas to share.

Also “sign in” by entering in your Twitter handle and name so we can continue to network with other tools during and after the conference.

Midwest Moodle Moot 2011

Looking to learn more about Moodle this summer? Make networking connections? A great opportunity is at the Midwest Moodle Moot July 20-22 in Goshen, IN. I think attending a Moodle Moot this summer is a great time to go because of the release of Moodle 2.1 on June 30th. I’m actually going to the one in California in July and my main focus will be on Moodle 2.x
